How STEM.org works to make its digital information and credentialing services usable by the widest possible audience.

Policies & governance

Public information from STEM.org.

Last updated September 16, 2026.

STEM.org Educational Research™ is committed to improving access to STEM.org information and credentialing services for the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities.

Our Commitment

Our accessibility goal is to work toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. Accessibility improvements are ongoing. This statement is not a claim that every existing page, document, form, or third-party service fully conforms to that standard.

Accessibility Improvements

Our work includes improving meaningful page structure and headings, descriptive links and image alternatives, keyboard operation, visible focus indicators, form instructions, readable contrast, and layouts that support smaller screens and enlarged text. Recent front-end maintenance has added descriptive labels to several navigation and verification controls. Further review and remediation are still needed across the website.

Credentialing Services and Linked Tools

We aim to make credential information, application pathways, verification, and renewal instructions understandable and usable. Some applications, course content, payments, appointment booking, and credential records are provided through third-party tools or linked websites. Please report any barrier encountered while using those services so that we can help identify an alternative or work with the provider.

Known Limitations

STEM.org contains legacy templates, rotating banners, embedded forms and news content, and downloadable documents. Not all of these have completed a comprehensive accessibility assessment. Older documents, image-based content, interactive controls, and third-party embeds may need additional keyboard, screen-reader, contrast, or text-alternative improvements.

The site uses HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and embedded third-party content. We have not verified every browser and assistive-technology combination. Please tell us when a particular combination prevents you from obtaining information or completing a task.

Feedback and Assistance

Email info@stem.org with the page address, the task you were trying to complete, a description of the barrier, and your preferred way to receive assistance. You may include browser or assistive-technology details if helpful, but please do not send sensitive medical information, passwords, or complete payment-card details.

We review accessibility feedback and will work to provide reasonable assistance or an alternative way to obtain the relevant information or service. A request for assistance does not require a statement of a medical diagnosis.

Assessment and Updates

This statement reflects an ongoing internal review and targeted website improvements. It is not an independent accessibility certification. We will revise it as assessments, remediation work, and service arrangements change.
