Clear answers to foundational STEM questions.

Start with clear definitions, then follow the evidence and practical guidance behind each STEM.org pathway.

What is STEM education quality assurance?

It is the structured review of evidence showing how a person, product, program or piece of content supports defined STEM learning goals. The scope and evaluation method should be explicit and verifiable.

What is the difference between certification and accreditation?

STEM.org Certified™ is the pathway for people, while STEM.org Accredited™ applies to eligible programs, schools and educational experiences. They are different trustmarks for different subjects.

What makes a STEM trustmark useful?

A useful trustmark identifies what was evaluated, uses consistent standards, preserves a verifiable credential record and does not imply approval beyond the evaluated scope.

How does Best In STEM™ fit into the system?

Best In STEM™ is an additional excellence distinction for eligible evaluations that reach 95 out of 100 or higher. It does not replace the underlying STEM.org trustmark.
